Sunday Morning Worship

There will be no worship in the sanctuary on APRIL 30th. Worship will be held instead at cedar ridge camp for an outdoor service.

We are inclusive. That means ALL people are welcome. If you come to worship here or participate in the active life of our community, we hope to offer a spirit of welcome to you. See our inclusivity statement.

While you don’t need to know anything in particular to worship with us, you might find some basic information helpful in advance of visiting. If you don’t find what you are looking for give us a call at 502-451-2910. If you are a first-time visitor, visit our I’m New Here page for more information. Our contact us page can also direct you by answering some commonly asked questions.

The community of Highland Presbyterian Church gathers each Sunday morning for worship as well as at other times for special services throughout the year. In worship, we praise and thank God for God’s goodness to us and all creation. We acknowledge how our lives fall short of what God hopes for in human community. We listen attentively to the Word of God in scripture, sermon and song. We offer prayers for our own needs, for this community and for the needs of the world. Finally, we offer ourselves to God so that we can serve God and neighbor.

Highland has a rich tradition of worshipping God through music. Choirs are available for all age groups. Instrumental musicians from within the congregation and from the Louisville area regularly support worship services. To find out more about our music ministries, click here.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) recognizes two sacraments. At Highland we celebrate the Lord’s Supper typically on the first Sunday of each month, and Baptism is celebrated upon request.

Children are always welcome in worship. Special bulletins are provided for older children so that they can participate more fully in the services. During the 11:00 am worship service year-round, an alternative is offered for younger children who do not wish to remain in worship. These children are invited to go Bible Buddies, a time for story and play, following the “time with children.” Bible Buddies is located in Room 203 (Chapel). During Bible Buddies, children hear a story, sing and dance, have a snack, pray, and play. This room is led by volunteers in the summer and is led by dedicated church members during the school year.
