The church reaches out to neighbors near and far to follow God’s call to do justice, love kindness and offer mercy. Consider if God is calling you to one of these opportunites.

Open Hand Kitchen – As a ministry of St. Vincent de Paul, the Open Hand Kitchen serves free meals to shelter clients as well as the poor and working poor in the community. It is a family friendly service opportunities. While 15+ are eligible to serve food, there are roles for younger volunteers. STITCH – Through STITCH, refugee women who are clients of Kentucky Refugee Ministries’ have an opportunity to learn to use an electric sewing machine. They learn to make clothing or items for home. Volunteers help teach sewing and/or organize donated sewing machines, fabric, patterns, and supplies. For more information, contact Anna Gray Slagle at

Portland Avenue Mobile Pantry –  On the First Tuesday of each month a Dare2Care mobile pantry provides food assistance at Portland Avenue Community Trust. Kentucky Refugee Ministries – KRM offers many ways to support refugees in Louisville. From Citizenship Mentoring and ESL Tutoring to Youth Programs and Family Support, there are many wonderful ways to be involved. New Volunteer Orientations are scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month at 6pm. Refugee Family Co-Sponsor Team – Each year a team welcomes a refugee family to Lousiville through Kentucky Refugee Ministries’ Family Co-Sponsor Program. The team assists a family as they learn a new city, culture, and language with the goal of self-sufficiency. It is an incredibly meaningful experience. To learn more contact George Holmes at

Habitat for Humanity – Each Summer HPC participates in the Presbyterian Habitat Build. A group of Presbyterian Churches join together to build a house with Habitat for Humanity for a family.  Get out to help build, contact Andrew Robinson Some church members also volunteer at the Re-Store and as Home Ownership Mentors and as Crew Leaders.
